Enjoy Reading Best Selling Books

There are many ways that people choose to relax. What one person may choose to do during their free time may not be of interest to the next person. This is fine because if we all liked to do the same things there would be crowds to contend with, lines to wait in and stress to deal with. I am in a profession that involves dealing with people everyday. I am a social worker. People’s issues, problems and disabilities are what I deal with every day at work. When I have time off I do not want to deal with crowds and there are many days when I do not want to deal with any people.

One of my favorite things to do is to read best selling books. I love to read all kinds of subject matter, fiction and non-fiction. I like to read current best selling books, but my favorite thing to do is to look back on the list of past best sellers. Many of the books have become classics. They are timeless and will be popular reads for years to come. Others are trendier and no longer apply to our times, but they are still fun to read. Many of the past best selling books I need to borrow from the library because they are no longer available in book stores except through special order. I do not want to spend a great deal of money buying an obscure book, but I will read it if I can locate a copy in the library. The local librarian became curious about my reading choices after she had helped me locate four former best selling books. I explained to her that I was looking up old list of best selling books from years ago and reading them. She thought this was an interesting idea and she began looking up some of the books that she thought looked interesting. Soon we began reading the same books so that we could discuss them. This has turned into a great friendship. We have not ventured beyond our love of reading. We do not discuss what is going on in our work, our private life or community. We simply discuss the different books we have read. This has been a very rewarding and relaxing relationship. We recommend books to each other and enjoy discussing what we have read. It is great to have an uncomplicated relationship that does not get mired down in emotion or feelings of obligations. Meeting with my reading buddy has become one of the best ways for me to forget the stresses of day to day life, and to increase my knowledge base through reading.

Picture Books For Your Children

Here are a few basics of what Picture Books has to offer up to any individual who wants to know more about it.

One of the things that I bought a lot of when my daughter was young was picture books. I got many as gifts, but I bought some on my own as well. Though I know children love stories, my little girl was more interested in the pictures most of the time. She often wanted to look through the ones that had pictures rather than hear stories anyway, and I think that might have been true for any baby her age. When she turned three, things changes, but for the first three years, the picture books were what she preferred.

Her favorites were ones that had pictures of babies, and now that she is five, she is still fascinated by any baby. Perhaps children are drawn to faces that are much like their own, but I don’t know. Her other favorite picture books were ones that were full of animals. She just liked to look at them at first, but after a while she would ask questions about each different animal she saw in picture books, and talking about them became better than reading what someone else might have added to the book.

We have just reached the tip of the iceberg, as the remainder of this article will help to further your understanding of this complex subject.

Children can benefit from making their own picture books. They don’t have to be complicated, but they can be if you want them to be. You could use paper joined together or a sturdy scrapbook from a craft store. The pictures can be anything the child is interest in. This could be pictures of friends and family, and it can also be things they find in magazines. I often saved a stack of magazines just for this purpose. If they aren’t old enough to cut things out on their own, a parent can do it for them.

Though not all picture books made by children will last forever, some might just make it. If the book is big enough they could add more to it each year. It might not seem like a big deal, but they will get a kick out of it when they get older. They can look back through the picture books to see what they liked when they were younger and how that changed through the years. The picture books can also be great keepsakes for mom and dad as well. They could be put away along with the baby book and the photo albums to help remember the early years of life.

No matter which way you look at it, having a firm understanding of Picture Books will benefit you, even if it is just slightly.
